Tuesday trio: Dymond Dogs, Charlie and ful.gor
A downtempo trio for Tuesday, from Dymond Dogs, Charlie and ful.gor.
Let’s start with the most difficult track from ful.gor. In smoke offers awkward sounds, stabs of buzzed bass and some snatched vocal. The whole thing has a smoke ridden haze and operates just out of focus.
Feather Rope by Charlie is taken from the Aimless EP. A more properly ambient track but with a depth of bass that belies that genre. There’s a profound sense of optimism but also a sense of abiding unease. Even the strings saw both ways.
Finally, Dymond Dogs. I assume a reference to the 1974 Bowie album. But I won’t hold that against them. Tunnel Music is a lovely cinematic piece of downtempo. There’s a wonderfully lazy, drawling guitar that drifts in and out of the track and in and out of focus. Very Sergio Leone.
