KoZY & DaGeneral – Uzers EP #techno

Techno clichés. I guess every genre has them. But techno’s not immune. Endless intros of hi hats or hi hats and beats. These days a name without vowels or random capitalisation. Big deep male vocal samples that are unintelligible or wailing female ones that are promoting positivity, world peace or sexual fulfilment. A few bars of backwards sounds. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I therefore approached KoZY & DaGeneral – Uzers EP with very low expectations. And, in having intros that go on longer than a 70s Deep Purple drum solo, I wasn’t disappointed. But just before I was about to consign this to the dustbin of history Uzers (despite the irritating spelling) took off. A totally sleazy bass line, uplifting background noise, an ascending synth and we’re away. Nothing new but boy is it well-constructed techno to push my buttons. We Don’t Sleep is much the same. Ignore the first 90s seconds and dive straight in to some techno that will have you throwing shapes and making out like you’re in Berlin (unless you’re in Berlin, in which case it will make you act like you’re in 90s London).

KoZY & DaGeneral’s ‘Uzers’ EP is out now from all digital stores.
