Castaway – Grabbster #groove #indiedisco
The early 90s had a load of driving indie disco groove tunes, like much of New FADs output, some PWEI and things like Take 5 from overly-maligned Northside. Castaway’s Grabbster is very much in that vein.
Castaway is Valeriy Sayushev from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Grabbster on the other hand could be from anywhere. It has a scuzzy, funky, indie disco sound that has a wonderfully abandoned feeling. It doesn’t really care about anyone or anything, other than whether you shake your hips to this. There are shades of big beat, bits of Motown funk and all manner of things in-between.
