Thursday triple tracks: ambient selection from drainabyte, Jesse Woolston and Makai #electronic #ambient

Three ambient tracks from drainabyte, Jesse Woolston and Makai.

Drainabyte returns with the hushed tones of slow fell the snow. This has a hissing, slightly distored air as though smothered by snow. There are wailing guitars and soft beats crushing lightly down. But ultimately this track heads for all things epic and mountanous. Expansive ambient electronic

Next, a first time here for Jesse Woolston from New Zealand. Lambent 01 is much more in the drone than ambient vein. Chords are held and time is suspended. The piece is built around “the depth of space” and that comes through with sheer infinity of the sensation and the background hissing of the universe. Edges towards classical but just about remains at a safe distance.

The track is taken from the µstructure album (available on digital and CD)

Finally, Italy’s Makai delivers the charming and warming You. There’s a romantic edge to all of this with the tugging on heartstrings of violin strings and a shushing set of beats. It’s all a bit romantically hazy. But like so many love affairs it’s intense but all too short. Brief ambient encounter? Don’t be repressed. Dive in.

Taken from the album The Comfort Zone

  1. There’s much to enjoy in each of these.
