Today’s techno is wilting in the heat: UNIT51 – the philosophers riddle (behringer model D) #techno #electronic #house #ambient

Sunday techno from Unit 51. But I’m too hot to deal with anything too upbeat or intense. Instead, something wandering on the fringes of IDM ambient techno.

Despite the name, Unit 51 is Simon Lewis from the UK (albeit living in Ariege, France). The track is a swirling, disorientating rhythm and ominous vocal sample. The philosophers riddle (sic) is a clever mix of 90s IDM space techno and a modern inventiveness that allows the track to have an intensity that comes from the pace and rhythm, rather than any pounding drums. The reference to behringer model D is because, as Unit 51 says “all sounds came from the Behringer model D, apart from some sample layering on the percussion.”
