A couple of surprises from Bartosz Lugowski and Day Brake #electronic #downtempo #chill #postrock

A couple of tracks that ostensibly I shouldn’t like. A track that references Pat Metheny and another that samples 70s disco. Two things from which I’d normally run a mile but Bartosz Lugowski and Day Brake change my mind.

Bartoosz Lugowski is from Poland and Eulalia is a guitar driven piece of post rock. A lazy chiming saunter through dappled sunlight. Such a beautifully constructed pice with the main refrain used relatively sparingly to retain its impact. This would work perfectly in any ambient set.

Taken from the album Pogoda

Next, Day Brake. Belgian homophone emplying chillout artists offer Lowkey. A loping hip hop beats based piece that has all manner of strings, noodly guitar and clarinet(?). There’s even a bit of 70s disco vocal sample (The Stylistics) before squalling guitar comes along to end the track. Clever blend.
