Techno is Great: Lady Maru – Society #techno #acid #electronic

I get sent a lot of techno. Don’t get me wrong. That’s a good thing. But once in a while I think “Am I too old for this? Do I really need to be stomped all over by aggressive beats or have my pacemaker put at risk from the sub bass?” And then something comes along to restore my faith in the genre. This is one of those tracks. Lady Maru offers Society. Lady Maru, started producing music in 1994 with an electric guitar, some toy percussions and a tascam 4- track recorder. She started djing in Rome in 2003 for clubs and open parties that slowly grew. Her sound has always varied between harder techno, deeper techno and underground house.

Maybe it’s that shared 90s background that means she gives this hard acid track space to breathe rather and over-compress and louden everything. Doesn’t make it any the less of a brath-taking tune. Acid swirls, a bit of Aloof techno and all the things I loved about the 90s hard techno clubs all synthesised into this dance floor stormer. Stand back. Prepare to be infected.
