Can you feel it? Eve Maret – Feminine Intuition
I was going to start the week with a bang and some techno. But at the last minute I changed my mind. Fickle? Not really. This track – Female Intuition – from Eve Maret demanded to come first.
Eve is a Nashville-based experimental artist and composer who “employs a wide array of electronic media and techniques in her various disciplines, exploring the possibilities of personal and communal healing through creative acts.” I’m always sceptical of such claims of communal healing through creativity. But you can’t deny she puts her money whre her mouth is. She and Jess Chambers founded Hyasynth House, “an electronic music collective and education center for female, trans, and non-binary artists in May of 2018. Together they facilitate workshops, performances, and community-wide conversations in an effort to support and empower marginalized groups.”
Female Intuition is a brilliantly executed bit of ambient electronica. Just a bit experimental it manages to play with your emotions in the swell and ebb of the sound. It pulses with life, ambition and ambience. There’s a bit of early 80s experimental synth play in it but it looks forward, not backwards. A delight.
