Weirdly wonderful with: Grand Commander – Ending Credits #electronic #experimental #NewMusic #GameTunes #synth

A welcome to Grand Commander from the USA with a weirdly wonderful track on Ending Credits. He says of himself that, “I make indie funk in Dallas, TX. I explore different genres, some funky, some folky, occasionally heavy. I’m obsessed with SNES and synth, rock a doubleneck, and write songs about love, life, animals, and adventure.” I meanwhile rock a double chin. But that’s much less helpful.

As the title implies, Ending Credits is a bit of a hommage to game tunes with a bit of Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis thrown in for good measure. GC says, “I love end of game sounding sequences, so I wanted to include one on my EP, Ending Credits was the result.” The track is much more than the slightly throwaway title implies. It’s a beautifully strange mix of synths, slow beats and almost theramins. I do love a bit of theramin dreaming. They make it futuristic, retro, earthly and spacey all at the same time. Dream on little robot.
