PREMIERE: Flo Førg – Woodpecker #LoFiHouse #DeepHouse #Chill #NewMusic
It’s Monday, so let’s have a deep house premiere. It’s the debut release on Wertstoff Musik from Munich by Flo Førg of Woodpecker.
The track is taken from the Birds EP, out on 1 November. The idea for the EP was born after a walk through a beautiful park, where Flo had recorded a tree-pecking woodpecker sound with his mobile phone. The EP represents a short flight that takes off with a mellow mid-tempo house beat including the woodpecker sound, then picks up speed and height with two groovy uptempo tracks, and gently lands on ground again with an ambient track, plus some bird sounds.
Woodpecker is the opening track on the EP. It’s deep house as a gentle stroll and all round chilling. This is home listening, not shapes on the dance floor. There’s breathy spoken vocals and a gently chugging sense punctuated by the woodpecker as percussion. It’s all very deep and a little bit profound. It manages to celebrate life and nature with an optimistic air. Deep house in which to get lifted away on the wings of this track.
