From the fine city of Dortmund: Klaus Blatter – Ballbearing Factory #Techno #IndustrialEstate #Factory

Honk Droid dark

Something a little away from the usual. Klaus Blatter comes in praise of the Ballbearing Factory from the fine city of Dortmund. A spoken word techno track. A bit of a head scratcher. Is it serious or not? It’s all done so seriously but not really. And in many ways does it matter? This is an engaging if odd piece of minimal techno from the theoretical father of techno. The background machine wheezing and bashing offers a reassuring presence in the face of parping synths. A winner on the shift.

As Klaus says, “I was formed by the ball bearing factory on the industrial Rhine. The crashing and rhythmic noises. The sweating bodies of other men as they toiled around me. The chill out zone of the canteen as we set the world to rights. I was forged by this environment in the same way those small units of steel we produced were. My body hard, sleek and tempered. My mind focused. Now you see how I invented techno. This is what I show you.”
