Sunday chill with: Ethereal, Allen Folk, and Ambient Nuutinen #Chill #HipHop #Instrumental

Three chilled tracks for Sunday. None of them ambient as such but all very relaxed. The artists are Ethereal, Allen Folk, and Ambient Nuutinen.

Ethereal (Justin) is from the USA and offers SpaceGroove from the album Outer Spaces. This is a lovely deep house groove track with wobbly sub-bass and synths a go-go. It’s chilled and a bit ambient but the beats are crisp and almost hip hop in their approach. Gives the whole thing a bit of a space funk feel. Everything’s lounging around a bit while the piano plays. And you gotta love the Lego keyboard.

Outer Spaces

Another who is taking the space approach is Allen Folk with the dramatically sad ambient of Tears In The Rain. This draws inspiration from Blade Runner and the “All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.” scene. The track starts simply with a 2 chord melody on the piano while choral strings offer drawn tones in the background. Handclaps arrive slowly. It’s all very sad in a futile end-of-the-world kind of way. Things become more complicated, as life is wont to do. But the pain lingers. Bittersweet memories.

And thirdly, Ambient Nuutinen. From Finland he (I’m assuming it’s a he) offers Philantropy. Of it he says, “Realistic, mental landscape about an attitude; which seeks openness from men; even when it seems fruitless.” What you get is a post-rock ambient guitar track. It’s full of rain and desolation. Steel guitar chimes plangently. Wood block and strings litter the landscape. But everything is spaced apart. There’s no crowding. There’s lots of time and space for your mind to wander. Lost forever.
