Friday’s downtempo duo with Jason Barty and Wandour #Downtempo #Chill #Electronic #NewMusic

Let’s start Friday with a whimper, not a bang. A couple of downtempo tracks from Jason Barty and Wandour.

Jason Barty is from South Africa and returns to Acid Ted after a gap of a couple of years. The track is Perau. Of it he says, “You’re in fast forward, moving through a wild Peruvian forest. A great shimmering rings deeply over everything. Then silence. Calm bells chime, marking the end of your journey.” The track opens with beats and reverberations. A pulsing sense of centredness. Piano comes along for the ride and amid the swirling synths gradually almost unobtrusively takes the focus of your attention. Lovely and calming. And we all need a bit of that these days.

London’s Wandour returns with a, “Forecast of jubilant weather coming ahead.” on Forecast. This is taken from the Jubilant Forecast EP. The track is a lovely bubbly track. A bit like some of The Orb’s more perky moments with that dubbed vocal sample allowed to drift about on a random walk. But it’s got a lovely bass underpinning that makes this more than mere whimsy. There’s the pace of scudding clouds and the icy shiver of cirrostratus. With this track today’s forecast is all sunny.
