Contemporary IDM: Cincois – 38 degrees #IDM #Electronic

Let’s have some self-proclaimed contemporary IDM from Cincois.

Cincois is Ethan Cimini and Henri Francois. They’re originally from Detroit but now based in New York. Their work is more based around art than dance. They see themselves as trying to depict images with sound. That art over dance approach is often a badge of the unlistenable. And yet 38 Degrees is a cheering and life affirming track. It manages to have a delightful off-kilter dance floor appeal. A bit more for swaying awkwardly than throwing shapes but dancey nonetheless. This strength comes from the wobbling synths that occasionally strike epic poses. There’s the usual 50s sounding sci fi sample but that only adds to the appeal. Beats clatter around as any self-respecting IDM track should. Like the sample says, ‘amazing.’
