Duo double with Kruder & Dorfmeister, and End of Code #Downtempo #House

A double set of tracks from two duos. We have the legendary Kruder & Dorfmeister, plus new duo End of Code.

Kruder & Dorfmeister are the legendary downtempo Austrian duo who really took that hip hop influenced bossa nova downtempo to global acclaim in the mid-90s. Despite their influence (especially 1998’s the K&D Sessions) their own output is quite spartan. They’re back with a new album due soon – 1995 – from which King Size is taken.

King Size has that dubbed out feel for which they are so well known. And in many ways it could have been produced at any time over the last 25 years. That’s not to belittle it in any way. The style is deceptively simple but hard to replicate successfully. It has a wonderfully loping feel and a loose limbed approach to life. The dub penetrates deep in your soul. Like your stoned best friend you want this in your life for those days of relaxation and conspiracy theories.

Next, End of Code. This is an electro duo of Nicolas Saad from Monaco and Shawn Pereira from Malibu. The track is Lazy Cowboy and it’s way out on its own. This track is at the wild frontier of electro. It’s a wonderfully perplexing mix of C&W, electro and downtempo, all mixed with tumbleweed and swing door saloons to produce something quite unique.

It’s a nine minute sprawl of a track. Some Western guitar, some mock film dialogue, and wide open spaces. Beats shuffle along in the dirt. It’s only half way through that the track moves over, imperceptibly at first, into something more obviously electronic in a spectral electro version of the first half. Fabulous track.
