I know there’s a temptation for the weekends in lockdown to be much like the week. But let’s mark the difference with this buzzing IDM techno track from Nick Cosic. Time to get up and at ’em.
Nick Cosic is from Serbia and has decades of experience in the Serbian music scene. His thing is modular arrangements and vintage synths. And that’s what you get on Monome (Vineyard Studio Session #1). It’s a track that sits somewhere between IDM and techno but doesn’t quite fit either. It has a raw, slightly primitive analogue power.
Of the track Nick says it was, “Inspired by algorithmic composition & modular synths. The lead melody is played by a musical program I’ve coded into a synth module.” I say feel yourself vibrate as the low end sounds thrum and vibrate. They enter your very core. Meanwhile there’s a slightly psychedelic element to the higher end arrangements. Gives it a hypnotic beguiling quality. Analogue techno at its best. Brilliant stuff. Taken from the Traces album.
