Pre-Fridaychill with: Pukem x Chill Moon Music – Stop The Things You Do #Chill #HopHop #StudyBeats @ChillMoonMusic

The double bass (contrabass) is a much under-appreciated instrument. There’s a lovely use this pre-Friday on Stop The Things You Do by Pukem x Chill Moon Music.

Pukem x Chill Moon Music is a collaboration between Pukem (Ivan Santarelli) a producer from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Chill Moon Music, a record company with a ‘collective’ spirit. Pukem says, “I’ve been playing the guitar and the piano as a hobby for several years. 2 years ago I started to study sound mixing/mastering and the last year started to create some chill beats.”

Stop The Things You Do goes for a late night noir jazz hop. What allows it to stand out is the subtle use of the contrabass. This gives it a sultry 50s air that’s accentuated by the cornet sound. Pukem says, “I had to study a lot of jazz stuff to get the 50’s vibe on all the instruments: contrabass line, piano progression and cymbals groove for example. As for the trumpet, I didn’t really know anything xD, I just connected my midi keyboard and started to improvise.” You end up with a very classic K&D sound that’s really delicious.
