In a pre-Friday party mood with some dark progressive house and techno from ky1o.
ky1o (formerly Kylo) is from Los Angeles and whilst it’s been some three years since he was last here, his love of German-sounding techno with more prog elements hasn’t deserted him. Here’s No Identity from his Techno Heaven EP.
No Identity takes a thundering, galloping techno beat and marries it with some dark progressive house synths. There are bits of 90s Underworld in places. But mostly this is a shimmering German (almost dub) techno dystopia with synths providing shards of light.
This peaks in the middle with a thunderous break before spiraling off again into space and spaced techno synth sounds. At the end though what drives this is the pace and punishment of the beats and a sense of melody that never quite gets sacrificed.
