SALT TANK – OLYMPIC

Salt Tank were  David R Gates and Malcolm J Stanners. They only ever intermittently caught my attention, balanced as they were on the cusp of progressive house and and crusty trance. Their later work definitely went over to the trance side. But their early work has some good moments. Not least ST5, their Peel Session double 12″. This was recorded 12.06.94 and broadcast 05/06.08.94.

The frequency of an AC signal is the number of cycles that occur during a one second period expressed in hertz (Hz). An AC signal has a voltage that first rises to a peak positive level, then falls back to zero, rises to a negative peak and then back to zero. The graph of time versus voltage (above) gives us the waveform of the signal, known as the sinewave.

The featured track definitely shows that delicate balance between trance and not trance.
