Monday chillin’ with: Syndrome, and Attom #StudyBeats #Chill #Downtempo @prodbysyndrome @attommusic

It may only be a Monday but that does mean it isn’t time to chill. Here are tracks from Syndrome and Attom.

Syndrome (James Eric TenNapel) is from Ontario, Canada. He’s only in his mid 20s but had been posting tracks for a decade. This is reflected in the stylish and confident production of his tunes.

Deja Vu is his new single, from the album of the same name. There’s a laid back and stylish beat. All deep thuds and classic sounds. The melody lies lightly on top. A mix of one finger keyboards and soft chords. This is somewhere between horizontal and head nodding. Perhaps even a little foot tapping.

This is good. Very, very good.

Attom is from Duluth, MN. His track Lagoon has a remix from Banyan. Banyan is a production duo who describes themselves as a “SW FL-based duo fusing world music and electronic dance production.” I’d say more a mix of organic house than strictly world music, albeit their influences are wide.

Banyan’s remix of Lagoon is just lovely. It’s a ripple of electronic sounds but with an almost gamelan touch. This gives a lovely reverb to the track. But they don’t forget that sometimes it’s good to dance with an underlying bass hum and handclap beats.

Ethereal sounds are t.here but they are for the uplifting feel rather than for some faux emotion or dreaminess. This is warm, summery and rich. But always grounded in the here and now. Beautiful.
