REMIXING CLASSICS: ORBITAL / UNDERWORLD

I always feel a little uneasy when classic tracks get remixed. This isn’t logical since I’d not have been bothered when they first came out and weren’t yet classics. But there you go. This is especially the case with some of Orbital’s key tracks. And Aaron Static dares to attempt Halcyon + On + On. Whilst K-Klass do an unofficial remix Underworld’s Two Month Off.

So, how do they do? Aaron Static is a progressive house DJ from Australia. It’s therefore unsurprising that he turns in a progressive house remix of Halcyon. This stays fairly faithful to the original, removes some of the slower build ups, and gives it a stronger dancefloor appeal. I guess I’m relieved that this isn’t too much of a departure from the original. This is a reasonable remix but if you have the original not really essential.

And K-Klass do an unofficial remix of Two Months Off. K-Klass are a Welsh duo, who have a long history (previously here) but more recent productions aim at a mainstream dancefloor. This remix is one of those. It doesn’t radically change the track structure but pumps it up with a bit of trance feeling, extra drums and disco glitter.  This is available to listen here and to download from HousePlanet.DJ.
