NEW MUSIC: EAT MORE CAKE REMIX BOB MARLEY
Ambitious no? Not a Marley fan mesself, so approached this cautiously. The Marley vocal gets messed around in a good way and some nice sunny electronics take it from reggae to house. Surprisingly good.
Blurb: You may recall Eat More Cake’s remix of Stardust’s “Music Sounds Better With You” which reached number 2 in the hype machine charts last year and was played on radio stations around the world including BBC Radio 1.
Now the london 4-piece are back with the official follow-up, a remix of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love”, and are hoping to have similiar success. “It’s one of those tracks you shouldn’t really touch” says Andy, the band’s frontman, “but I found the accappella online and I couldn’t resist.” The remix stays true to the original, leaving the vocal in it’s original key and tempo but adds a UK-garage-esque swung 4-on-the-floor beat and a thumping bassline. “It sounds quite simplistic, but I think simple is often the hardest thing to get right. We’ve taken our time on this one, I hope people like it!”
