Black Grape – Marbles (Fabio Paras Mix)
Another track lifted from another blog. This time bossman’s Weekender.
Black Grape (Shaun Ryder’s post-Mondays band) were never really my thing. But Weekender has 1997 single Marbles (here). This has a Fabio Paras remix which I’d never heard before. And we do like a bit of Fabi at Acid Ted.
The remix is guitar turned to twang and whoosh and bleep. The beats are uplifting, almost progressive house in style. And Ryder’s bark is happily mostly absent, leaving 10 minutes of classic indie dance which gradually builds to an epiphianic peak. Shame I missed this one at the time. A welcome addition to the Fabi canon.
