JAZZ CLUB … NIIICE

From the minor indie jazz revival of the early 80s came Carmel who were Carmel McCourt, Jim Paris and Gerry Derby. The music was spartan and relied on the double bass. Otherwise, it was all about Carmel’s rich voice. I had got into Louis Armstrong and The Inkspots at this time, so Carmel fitted in. I never grew a pencil moustache or smoked Gitanes but I could nod suavly. A couple of singles from 1983:
