NEW MUSIC: niceFingers – Mind Render

Sometimes I like the sinus clearing brutality of bassy dubstep like Woobes or Hooky. But sometimes it’s all a bit much and you want a bit of soothing dubstep like Burial. But then that sort of thing can get all coffee table if you’re not careful. A third way is required. Goody. Here’s niceFingers to offer something that sits betwixt and between. Full enough bass to avoid the dinner party but subtle enough to play in a night in without your neighbours calling the police.

Mind Render is the best of the two tracks here. Dubstep with emphasison the dub to start, accompanied by a lovely synth melody, until the bass comes in but doesn’t obliterate. Download available. Meanwhile, Arammana is a more lush, chilled production, romantic even. Strong dub influences in its lolloping path. Could have done without the vocal sample, mind.
