MICC – The Mild EP

Yet another new identity for Colin C aka Slighter, Visitor Seven etc. This time in collaboration with Markus Greulich (aka Miami Ice) from Germany. Listen only clips for the new EP I’m afraid. But it’s good, so do give it a listen.

Markus and Colin were brought together by mutual friend Pole Folder. Colin C takes up the story “Pole was telling me about how he likes this new kid, Miami Ice… so Markus and I started talking, and eventually we got to talking production..  and I brought up the idea of trying to do a Trans-Continental collaboration for fun.” From that, the duo began trading different sessions across the internet, one of which spawned the release of “Stem” on Endemic Digital.

This three tracker, also for Endemic Digital, is labelled as tech house which is true and not true. The EP is split into three tracks, each ascribed to different times of the day – Morning, Afternoon and Evening. Colin C explains how this came about “We went to the label (Endemic) and Wez had the idea of us doing the remixes instead of farming them out. So I came back with what is now called “Mild Mornings” and Markus came with what we called “Mild Evenings”. The idea was to have it be presented as a cohesive EP, and not “Mild Afternoons (Colin C. Mix)” and vice versa.

Curiously, the bpm for the tracks declines through the day – I’d have thought it would rise. I think I’m being too literal and Colin C explains “it’s more about the overall feel of the tracks I think than the discrepancies in BPM, as mine [Mornings] is a simple growing groove, into the main “afternoons” original, and then Markus making a really beautiful, deeper mix with “Evenings”.

Morning is the coldest of the three tracks. Very tech house. Very serious-faced. Afternoon loosens up and chills out a little. Definitely one for drunken afternoon dancing. Evening gets a little darker, taking on a dub techno feel with extra slinky bass. Lovely.

This 3 track EP is out NOW on Endemic Digital.
