Reuben Hollebon – Seven (machinesleet’s tight hug Remix)

At the end of a long week, here’s something soothing. It’s a lustrous piece of ambient with everything set to drone. Free download.

Reuben Hollebon is from the Norfolk, UK. His music is agonised singer songwriter based around intimate instruments, particularly guitar. Seven is a track remixed from the Clutch EP by machinesleet. No idea about who that is, apart from that it’s someone else from the UK.  This brief track has sombre buzzing synths and some almost-not-there acoustic guitar. Let yourself drift away.

Blurb: It is no surprise that Reuben Hollebon comes from a small town near the bleak and beautiful Norfolk coast – because his music contains exactly those qualities. The songs of the Norwich born musician are intense and uncompromising favouring intimacy over grandeur. Influenced by Elliot Smith, Godspeed You Black Emperor and John Martyn, Reuben learnt to craft his own particular style of music performing a song a week in a small West Yorkshire venue. Tracks such as Seven and Home bear testament to an apparent obsession with a changing landscape on the edge of an island country, whilst themes of those nearby and a certain British ambiguity with it all stay close throughout. Reuben now resides in London having recently returned from a makeshift European tour having played shows from Slovakia to Sweden with plans to tour there again in 2013 alongside more dates in the UK and Ireland.
