Rodriguez Jr, ‘Manama’

backtobackv7

Tech house is one of the most difficult dance genres for me. The difference between something good and something dull is pretty fine. This track by the previously-unknown-to-me Rodriguez Jr from his new Back To Back vol7 comp is most certainly on the good side. It’s a cracking finger-clicking beats track with a good and dirty bass line, even the vocal doesn’t make me like it less. Sophisticated stuff. Free download.

Blurb: After his first album, ‘Bittersweet’ came out on mobilee in 2011, Rodriguez Jr. became the fastest growing name on the imprint to boot, also going on to release on contemporary imprints including Systematic and Mothership. When he’s not cranking out live sets on the international club and festival circuit, this ambitious French producer commits to some serious time in the studio, where he recently wrapped up the latest compilation for mobilee’s ‘back to back’ series. Describing the project as “some kind of huge jam session” Rodriguez Jr. presents a hand-picked selection of his favourite mobilee cuts on CD 1, while CD 2 features nine exclusive Back to Back tracks, created in collaboration with Anja Schneider, Sebo K, Tassilo from Pan-Pot, Ray Okpara and more. Created over an intense four month production period, the results undoubtedly speak for themselves; Volume 7 is the most colorful and eclectic “back to back” yet.
