Thrash Pilot – Stampire / Red Moon

stampire

To end this Bank Holiday, here’s some abstract drum and bass on Killscreen Recordings. Free download.

There’s B Movie samples, skittery hyper beats and lots of treble in Stampire – albeit that I read Samphire. which I love and shows what’s important to me. Red Moon is a more dubby affair with lots of echo to offset the skittering. Good dark abstract release, out 2 Sept.

And the free download is 2 People (Thrash Pilot Bootleg). a rather fine funky bit of drum and bass:

Blurb: Hot on the heels of the last release ‘Firewalker’, Thrash Pilot are back with another storming double A side., “Stampire”. (KILLSCR02). Jim Kennedy last released under the name ‘Thrash Pilot’ in 1999 on Manchester’s classic ‘Abstrakt Recordings’ along with label mates ‘Proteus’ and ‘DJ Hidden’.
A former live act, Thrash Pilot once performed at drum and bass nights UK wide. After moving to Leeds and presenting a show on pirate station ‘Move FM’ along with his DJ partner ‘DJ Snappa’ Jim, now under the name ‘Morpheus’ released on the now defunct ‘Nu-‐Urban Music’. After a long period away from the scene after becoming disillusioned with the state of drum and bass a few years ago, Jim is back with his new label Killscreen Recordings.
