Koala – Another Holy Day EP
Koalas may sleep for up to 20 hours a day. But this one has stayed awake long enough to provide Another Holy Day EP as the debut release for the Dimentique label. As befitting a sleepy koala, this is lush, soporiphic deep house. Mixtape for free download.
Dimentique is a new Bristol-based label. And this EP is their first release, out in early October. I know nothing about the label or artist, so let’s focus on the music. It’s deep house but of a very chilled style. Nothing here to raise the ire and everything to lower the blood pressure. Another Holy Day is twangy deep house with vague samples floating about in the background. Landscape is a bit deeper, almost dub-like. Oudezijds Voorburgwal (the oldest canal in Amsterdam) provides more of the lovely same. Nothing sultry to indicate that this canal is actuallly part of the red light district.
And here’s a 40 min mixtape for free download from Koala
Blurb: Dimentique is a new label/blog from Bristol, dedicated to the sounds of Deep House and Electronica music. And inspired by the majestic style and the scene. Koala – Another Holy Day EP coming 7th of October 2013 (2 week Beatport Exclusive).
