Techno is about the dark

finalamountep

If house is about the light, then techno is surely about the dark. And German techno is so often about the intermittent pulsing of light that keeps us mainly in the dark. Here’s Germany’s Mike Maass on Hidden Recordings with his Final Amount EP to prove the point. Track for free download.

Final Amount is the humming of infinity and a signal bouncing out never to return. Plankton’s remix offers more hope in the darkness. Brood Dynamite is darker and almost dubbish. Hans Bouffmyhre offers a more uptempo but equally dark offering.

And, if you want more darkness, here’s a Mike Maass remix for free download. He says it’s just for fun. But there’s no fun here in the black circus

Joachim Pastor ft. Florence Bird – Wayfaring Stranger (Mike Maass Killing Strangers Rework)

DESCRIPTION:

Dark, functional big room techno can best describe the latest from Hidden Recordings, featuring Germany’s Mike Maass includes two originals with remixes. We give Mike a lot of credit for working so hard on the EP, demonstrating his nice development of sound, pushing himself to new heights for the label and further evolving as a producer. One original is his distinctive menacing, apocoyptic peak sound he is known for and the other is sophisticated, simplistic yet still full of rumble techno gem.

His reward is a fantastic vinyl featuring an incredible remix by Hidden Recordings mainstay Plankton and well respected techno pillar and admired Sleaze label boss, Hans Bouffmyhre.

These tracks are a must have for those special upcoming gigs and late-nights!
