NEW MUSIC: SPENCEGABOR

Something in a rather minial vein for a change. The debut single by SpenceGabor, out in May, and it’s pretty good.

The track “The Session” (deeply uninspired name, c’mon you can do better), has strong flavours of Berlin minimal techno, with splashes of dubstep bass. It would be a really good track were it not for the vocodered vocals by someone who has too much time for Trent Reznor. You long for less vocals or a dub mix. Almamy, who featured here previously was executive producer for the project. Although the track is out in May, I have no idea where from*.

The blurb about him says: Also known as nexusdeep. for his production work and as HedNorton for his remixes, SpenceGabor. brings it all. Slow, upbeat, downtempo, choppy, mellow, dance, warm. You name it. The Session proves unique with its cool electric foundation blended with an equally electric vocal phrasing. Call it electro, call it minimal, whatever you do, don’t call it anything shy of being innovative. This New York City boy has got some tricks up his sleeve, giving you something to move to as well as something that moves you… Like rolling a dice, you’ll never know what side of him you’ll see next.
