“Originality is a thing we constantly clamour for, and constantly quarrel with.”

clamrhigh

The Victorian thinker and writer Thomas Carlyle was talking about originality, rather than the clamour itself. But originality is a path strewn with dead ends and by-ways that go nowhere. Sometimes the road more travelled is where peace lies. San Diego artist Clamr has his High LP out which takes a range of house and electronic influences, including Giorgio and Daft Punk to produce a West Coast version of French house. Free download.

The High LP has a sort of familiarity to the house sounds. What it does is put together uplifting French disco, with a bit of piano and squally treated guitar on 92101 to give something that wouldn’t feel out of place in a Daft Punk set. There’s an upliftingness to it all that makes you smile. The title track is another good ‘un. Has that same positive outlook in the main synth line but backed with a multi-tracked vocal in the background. A more complex track but still makes you smile. Both tracks are free download and are included below. I’ve also added the link to the whole LP, if you want to explore further.
