Nightmares on Wax – Aftermath (HOUSEHOLD//BASSLINE Bootleg)
These days Nightmares on Wax is best known for a string of mid-90s downtempo classics. But before that phase came a lesser known phase doing rave bleepery on Warp Records. Many of them sound thin by today’s standards and haven’t aged well. Of these, probably the best-known is 1990’s Aftermath. It’s had a rework from Household//Bassline.
The original is a bleepy, ravey 303 fest. Its drums are a bit thin but it does have a deep bass kick. And that’s what Household//Baseline has aimed at in his bootleg. The drums are fuller and there’s less of the dated rave references, leaving something jacking the bass.
The original track
Before dominating the game in chill-out and world music, Nightmares on Wax exploded onto the early-90’s UK rave scene with the first worldwide hit for bass music – the classic ‘Aftermath’.
