Front Line Assembly – Next War (Slighter Remix)

Clone troop

Slighter’s been working on his next album. But in the meantime, he’s found time to do a remix of Front Line Assembly for the Cold Waves IV compilation. The track is exclusive to this compilation.

Cold War IV is raising money for Hope For The Day charity, which deals with mental illness and suicide. Slighter says “Front Line Assembly reached out to me this Summer with the proposal of doing a new remix, of my choice, for the Cold Waves IV compilation – Cold Waves is a charity event that happens in Chicago with a 2 night event to benefit Hope For The Day (Suicide and Mental Illness Awareness) helmed by Jason Novak (Cocksure, Acumen Nation/DJ? Acucrack). I choose “Next War”, a bonus track on the Echoes remix album, because it really resonated with me.”

Slighter takes the track away from its industrial origins and into a more wistful, cinematic vein. Yet, this is widescreen electronica that doesn’t forget its industrial roots. There’s a clash of machines and an air of dystopia but ultimately this is about salvation and hope. Appropriate really.
