Thursday threesome: evitceles, The Engineer and Housekeepers

Thursday’s threesome is techno-biased encompassing evitceles, The Engineer and Mickey Finn.

First, evitceles with Risingvanity. A minimal techno track, full of analogue fashioning and a haziness. Available from Bandcamp and on fashionable cassette.

Secondly, Torque by The engineer. Much beloved by Top Gear presenters, I had to go and look up what torque was. Apparently, it’s “a measure of how much a force acting on an object causes that object to rotate.” I’m so bad at physics that I’m not sure I’m any the wiser. Anyhow, the track aches for motor-related punning. Suffice to say that this is a muscular track, unafraid to show you its tats. Like Dubfire at his best this defies anyone to try and stand in its path. It just rolls on.

And finally, Housekeepers and Mickey Finn. Less techno than the other two this a great piece of leftfield house with a gradually building approach to the track that finally explodes after four minutes.

Blurb: Launching this October, Housekeeping Records is a new imprint from the Housekeeping collective, and kicks off in fine form with the three-track ‘Start With a Little EP’ from the label founders.
