Downtempo duo from Nadav Cohen and Anna Disclaim

No laughs to be found here in a couple of sombre electronic tracks from Anna Disclaim and Nadav Cohen.

Anna Disclaim first with The Last Minutes. If the title sounds poignant, then you’re right, it is. As Anna explains “Project was created in loving memory of my mother who left us on the 4th of September 2015. Please buy the EP as the entire income of purchases will be donated to Cancer Research UK to raise awareness and help people and their families beating this disease.” A description becomes mildly irelevant. But for the record it’s three minutes of strings bass and guitars which aches with ambient absence. If you’ve lost someone close or it’s close to an anniversary of loss this might help. But it might not, since it goes to the heart of the emotional impact of such a loss.

After that, Nadav Cohen’s Surround comes across as upbeat. That’s to do it a disservice. It’s a lovely spacious ambient track, with a little pianio motif giving it a neo-classical air of longeur. The piano sits within an electronic setting that almost comes across as drone. Beats exist periodically but you’d hardly know they were there. Lovely.
