Camp North – Blasphemy #house

The lovely Camp North returns with uplifting house on Blasphemy.

Blasphemy’s a strong word, meaning “the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God.” It originates in the thirteenth century and Wiki derives its meaning thus: “The word “blasphemy” came via Middle English blasfemen and Old French blasfemer and Late Latin blasphemare from Greek βλασφημέω, from βλάπτω “injure” and φήμη “utterance, talk, speech”.”

With such serious consequences at stake – and let’s not forget blasphemy is currently a criminal offence in 33 countries – it’s an odd title for an otherwise delightful synthwave house track. There’s a little bit of The Orb in the opening ripples, before it opens out into a paean of joy. The sample says “it’s a lovely day” and with this tune it certainly is.
