Leftfield electronics from Chandeliers and Deep Woods #house #techno #electronic

A couple of tunes that strike a leftfield path in house and techno from Chandeliers and Deep Woods.

Chicago synth trio Chandeliers offer Meridian Council. No idea about the title – I’m assuming it’s not a reference to the Meridian Council in Lincolnshire.  It’s a great synth house tune with a leftfield delicacy. There’s more than a little bit of YMO in the use of the syths and time signatures. It’s all rather beautifully done. They say it’s “modern psychedelic synth, colorful warped out meditative MIDI excursions.”

The track is taken from the Law of Fives EP – available from bandcamp as a download or one of those retro-modern cassette thingies.

Deep Woods offer the more techno sounds of The Screeching Owl. Ignore the first minute, which is taken up with the beat-based intro required by club tracks. Focus on what happens thereafter. The oddness of the “do you like our owl” and the sound of the owl. Gives the tune a bit of a Twin Peaks creepiness. Unfolds into a rather wonderful 9 minute techno epic of constantly shifting moods and textures. This is out on 19 January on 3 Bridge Records.
