Midweek techno triple from PaetGig, S.M.O.D. and Roxton Fone #techno #electronic

Techno three ways this morning from PaetGig, S.M.O.D. and Roxton Fone.

Germany’s PaetGig is first out of the traps with You’re My Missippi Queen. No idea what that’s about. But this is a light techno track, as interested in the melody as the bass and beats. Gives the whole thing a lovely 90s Guerilla prog house / techno feel. It bounces along happily like a puppy in piles of autumn leaves but without the nasty deposit at the end. C’mon, bounce, bounce. The track is taken from the forthcoming album Changes, out at the end of the year.

Next, Roxton Fone who says that he was “born and raised in Sherbrooke, Québec (Canada) to a French mother and a Syrian father. He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Sherbrooke.” But what sets Solar Wind apart is the origin of the bass line. He says “Whenever I pick up my guitar I play the same shuffle blues lick over and over again. I thought I’d try to replicate it using a synthesizer and it became the bass line that you hear at the beginning and throughout.”  This is then added to by spot on dance floor beats and a bit of acid dirtiness as the track grooves on and on. Smear this all over yourself and get out on the floor.

S.M.O.D. are from Germany and if you give Sticks a listen that’ll make perfect sense. This is one of those wonderfully brutal, metallic German techno tracks that come on an endless conveyorbelt. That’s not to say that this is cliched. Far from it. It’s got a great sense of anticipation or delayed gratification in the way it offers a build that just keeps on going but never quite peaking. Definitely one for the strobes and dark corners. Quality leftfield techno.  Taken from the EP A form of travel unknown to humans.
