A couple of Japanese ambient tracks for you this morning from Tonbo and Bad Sun Corp.
Tonbo first. From Tokyo he says his “musical principle is to unravel his meaning of existence of his spirit with improvised mic performance and his original music.” The track is Other and sits somewhere between ambient, downtempo and floating deep house. It’s a delightfully chilled experience but with enough background ‘other’ not to be too relaxing. A bit of a feast for the ears. Taken from the Visions EP.

Next, Bad Sun Corp. Also from Tokyo but I know nothing else about the artist. The track is 飛び去る which I think means Fly Away. This is a more lo fi hip hop infused track, with strong clicky wood block beats that work with held synth tones. But there’s also a strangeness from wordless ethereal voices in the background. The beats keep the whole thing grounded lest the electronics float away. Taken from the album グライダー (tr. Flappy)
