Three tracks of drum and beats. Sometimes drum and bass but not always. The artists are Team Cpt x Urban dwgz, Inwards, and Battletek.

TeamCapetown are back with another track. This time it’s Team Cpt x Urban dwgz. The track is Way’Bambisa. No idea what that means but what you get is a stabby almost-EDM type affair but with beats that are unconstrained by the usual house norms. They clatter around polyrhythmically alongside some heys and general shout outs. There’s a chaotic party air to this that’s lost in a k hole. Are you ready to join in?

Inwards is next up. Inwards is the alias of Kristian Shelley, a multi-instrumentalist and modular synth programmer from Worcestershire, UK. This hardly constitutes your usual urban setting for electronic music. And perhaps that explains the idiosyncratic nature of the music. The track  is a Jess The Cat. A psychedelic drone accompanied by seemingly freeform beats that bounce and ricochet everywhere. Gives the track an out of control feel. Careering towards disaster but veering away from the cliff edge at the last minute. A complete thrill ride of the track with no obvious peaks. Foot to the floor. Let’s go.

Finally a bit of liquid drum and bass. Battletek is a Dutch producer and on Budapest offers a hi-energy sweeping statement of liquid drum and bass feeling. This is accentuated with the addition of piano and strings. That gives it an organic analog sensation that the pauses allow you to really savour. There are even some ethereal vocals that add not subtracts from the track. Taken from the three track Nu Dawn EP 3 on Nu Venture Records.
