Added intensity with: Bright Hinze, and Alex Banks #House #Techno #NewMusic

A couple of tracks that take us to a more intense side of house and techno from Bright Hinze and Alex Banks.

Dutch artist Bright Hinze offers a new year treat in To The Core. Offering a punk-type length at only 2:28 this manages to pack a lot into the time. There’s a deep elastic bass that rides the track. Beats come from a more old school house direction. And synths have a slightly ravey quality. But this is all about the compression of time and space. Peaks come early, though it really doesn’t feel like that. Tension is applied which has the effect of constantly ratcheting things up. Darkness comes early here.

Next is the UK’s Alex Banks with a release on AcidTed favourite Max Cooper’s Mesh label. The track is Falling Down, a single taken from the Beneath The Surface album. There’s a bit of Max Cooper intricacy at work here. But this is generally darker and more dance floor focused. The bass is the focus with a distorted edge that’s held back from falling apart. The counterpoint is a wonky synth line that meshes beautifully (geddit!). Beats tumble in asymmetric fashion. And then at 4:30 there’s a change to something more synth electro and almost orchestral in its intent. This allows the track to rebuild itself into something widescreen and filled with buzzing grandeur. A seven minute thrill ride of intelligent techno. Perfect for darkest dance floors everywhere.
