House music with: Tha_Guts, O Squared, and Buttermoth #House #OldSchool #Moog #Downtempo

Let’s have a bit of a leftfield house morning with Tha_Guts, O Squared and Buttermoth.

Tha_Guts is, “a musical, audiovisual and multi-instrumentalist producer.” Perhaps from Brazil. The track is Moog Lovers. But it’s  not your standard moog tune. It’s not really one that rests on synths. It’s a house track that takes us back to older times, both musically and the evocative sample. This talks about a time before the internet and “life was simpler then.” And yet it manages not to sound nostalgic but more matter of fact. There’s a harder edge through the use of acid and almost techno tendencies. But this is a magpie approach as it flitters between styles in an effortless, restless way. It manages lots of funk, some disco, more acid and all things good. A wonderful collage, homage. Seriously cool track.

America’s Buttermoth (half butterfly, half moth) returns from his travels to these parts with Touched. Taken from the Travels EP this was inspired by a road trip across America. It’s a lovely chilled house track with a wide-eyed wonder and joy. It revels in rolling road and open landscape. It finds everything endlessly fascinating. There’s a chiming central synth refrain that combines with the unobtrusive beats to evoke the constant hum of the combustion engine. There’s a peace and serenity to be found here. Come aboard.

It’s been a fair old while since we had some deep house from O Squared. But he’s back from the Middle East with Oztech ft Ali Z. This has a slight flavour of the orient to its tumbling deep house beats in an east meets west sort of way. It’s reflective and restrained. There’s no rush to anything. Stop and stare. A seven minute leftfield synth journey. Dance around but take your time in so doing.
