Friday is going minimal with Anton Kling – Mareld #Minimal #House

It’s been a long week between steel, eels and Storm Christoph. I want something that’s more inward than outward. Here’s Anton Kling with the gentle minimalism of Mareld.

Anton Kling is from Sweden but is now based in Oslo, Norway. But I know no more. As for Mareld that may mean Bioluminescence but I’m no Swedish speaker. As for the track, it’s a thing of gentle beauty and heart-warmingly long at a time when I get too many sub-to minute tracks.

The seven+ minutes unfold from a slow drone synth and accompanying soft clatter of beats. It’s all wide open sounds and spaces. There’s an organic tinge to the minimal approach. There’s an expanse of space out there with a crackle of winteriness. And it remains essentially human. There’s the promise of warmth and company in the distant wordless vocals. Perfect for a glass of malted whiskey. Neat, please. A splash of water if you must. No ice. The clink will interfere with the mood of the track. Aaaand relax.
