PREMIERE: Classic techno remix: J.Blofeld – 47 (Mark Broom Remix) #Techno #DubTechno @MarkBroom

Let’s end the week all thumpity thumpity with some techno from J.Blofeld given a dubby techno spin by Mark Broom.

J.Blofeld is Germany’s Jürgen Blome who has his roots in the underground techno scene of Mannheim. He describes his role as, “Supplier of impulsive, hypnotic techno beats which create an alternate reality.” He’s been around for some six years or so with a small but steady set of releases.

His new release is the 47 EP. This is a nine-track release comprising four originals and five remixes. I’m focused on one of those remixes. It’s by Mark Broom. His Twitter account simply has him as DJ/producer. That doesn’t really do justice to someone whose career goes back to the start of Acid House and whose earliest releases include some on legendary label General Production Recordings (GPR).

Mark’s work has always reveled in the heaviness and pulsing beats of techno. His remix here for J.Blofeld is no different. There’s a kick drum with some proper techno attitude. But also some stabby chords giving you a bit of that rave aesthetic. And all overlaid with something dubby that gives the track a lightness of foot that the kick drum tries unsuccessfully to quell.

Plan B is over, here’s a tip top techno track for your weekend Plan A.

The whole EP is here:
