A light sprinkling of electronic snow: Aerial2k – Snowglobe #Synthwave #Chill #IDM #Electronic

Did you know that at the end of the 19th century the Austrian Erwin Perzy, a producer of surgical instruments, invented the so-called Schneekugel (snow globe) and got the first patent for it? There’s something enticing about the shaking and watching things swirl before they settle. Here’s Ariel2k with the shakingly enticing Snowglobe.

Aerial2k comes from Wellington, New Zealand but I know no more than that. Snowglobe is the title track of a new EP.

Snowglobe is crystalline synths that ripple and flicker. There’s a downtempo sense of darkness and shaken snow. It’s all wrapped in some creaking almost trap hi hats but is otherwise beatless. Eventually, there’s a lullaby or music box sense of synths settling in a fairy wonderland.

All that glitters is not gold, sometimes it’s the refracted light from crystals of snow. Shake your globe baby.
