Deep techno with: antistatikk – The Neighborhood (cl_ose remix) #Techno #Leftfield #IDM

To get the weekend off to a strong start here’s a really interesting Techno track from antistatikk and cl_ose that weaves together some austere Techno with IDM swerves and even a Dub Techno sensibility.

antistatikk is from Germany and his biog offers that he was inspired by Cologne’s drum & bass scene and started DJing and producing in the early 2000s. He’s since moved onto Techno and Ambient sounds. But his work also has that clean precision of abstract drum and bass. It’s a winning combination.

His new The Neighborhood EP on Sine Language Records features this rather fine remix from cl_ose. cl_ose is a collaboration between Sine Language Records heads cl_yde and Ose. The original track is a mix of House and IDM sounds with an almost choral yearning. cl_ose take things in a different direction.

On cl_ose’s remix, they double the length of the track to seven minutes. This allows an unhurried approach to the build. IT starts in a low-key, slightly dark Ambient, direction before adding back a techno sensibility with a purposeful set of beats.

The repetitive structures become almost Dub Techno in the way the bass beats are contrasted with foreground synth stabs. Like Basic Channel on uppers. It works its way through to a more insistent epiphany.

A clever track that is never content to rest on its laurels or on one style. This hits the head first so you don’t notice your feet moving without permission.
