Detroit meets Japan on: Chizawa Q – Asia 2 (Lost Q Remix) #Techno #Detroit #OldSchool #MelodicTechno @randsrecords @ChizawaQ
Here in the UK there’s much reflection on the past and what the past means for the future. In that vein here’s a track from the past getting a remix for the future. Chizawa Q remixes his own track Asia.
Japanese producer Chisawa Q remixes his own track Asia for the Asia 2 (Lost Q Remix). The original was released as part of the Panther release on R&S Records in 2006. But it has its roots in techno from at least ten years before that.
This remix is very much in the Detroit school of techno. It has a light techno style that I associate with R&S releases of the 90s but while the synths are keen to flitter around, the beats give this a solid club attack stance. There are definite shades of people like Dave Angel, and Vince Watson who took a consciously jazzy approach to their techno. It burbles away happily in a liquid vein putting a smile on your face.
Classy stuff. This could have been released at any time in the last thirty years but has a timeless appeal that looks firmly forwards as well as nodding backward.
