PREMIERE: Bass driven techno from: Bastian Benjamin – Labour #Techno #AcidTechno #Breakbeat #IDM

Here’s an AcidTed premiere from Bastian Benjamin of his raw bass driven techno track Labour. Bastian says “earnings of this track go to the Save The Children fund to support their fight against Child Labour.”

Bastian Benjamin is Bastiaan van Vuuren from Deventer, roughly in the centre of Netherlands. His work is mainly electronica and breakbeat where he alternates between big contrasts and repetition, using loads of dirty percussive drums and heavy basses.

As for Labour, it’s worth being aware that he says “The overall vibe of this track reminded me of people working in a harsh environment.” So, this isn’t an easy listen. But it is a rewarding one.

Bastian also says “The main elements for Labour were created during my live shows and arranged afterwards.” This comes through in a looseness on the track giving it a strong organic feel. It opens in a cinematic vein with aching strings and a throbbing background keyboard. That’s only scene setting for the real action which arrives with the ominous galloping rumble of bass.

The bass develops from its depth into something that has more of an acid techno flavour and pitch to it. And you do get rather pitched into the track. It’s like a black hole with a density and IDM texture that’s seemingly inescapable.

Brilliant, brutal, and breath-taking. If you love leftfield techno you will love this.
